Monochrome Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Monochrome

Monochrome
- - - - - - - - -
Of their color
Of their fragrance
Of their form
It brings storm,
A riot of them
Joyful exquisite bud
That when open
Fills the world
With sensation
A wonderful creation of God
Petals by petals
Dwell in human souls
Dainty they are
When down to the ground
Keeps daisies gracious and fond
They paint me and you
And this whole world around
With soft vermilion robe
Wish to die in their thorns
For in their colored lap of plumes
The night dreams to put on
August brings them anguish
And November chill
Yet I find them cheerful still
This morning's monochrome flowerscape
Having a dusty purplish pink color
Chasing dreams after dreams
To lay a rosebud fresh and sweet
In my outstretched hand
In my distressed heart
To bring smiles to my countenance
Wreathed with blight
