Monsoon Fury Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Monsoon Fury

With respite, comfort, solace;
Reached monsoon
Bringing rain to filling rivers, soaking meadows
Showering mountains
Sprinkling woods, valleys.........
All drenched with joy of rain
Grasses come alive
Little souls beneath grasses
On merrymaking, looking happy
Little birds singing songs of joy
And everything around looking fine and jolly

Last monsoon
Pilgrims charged with spiritual energy
Made their way to Kedernath, the holy shrine
To worship and pray
When rain played havoc on their way
And it came as the sorrow of the day

Landslides and other forms of devastation came their way
Monsoon fury or rain fury or flood fury
Whatever it may be, we call it nature's fury
Unleashing a lot of damage to innocent lives
Some not yet found, some buried alive
And some forever washed away
For years to come
Tragedy of this magnitude termed as national calamity
Could not be written off our memory
To their bereaved families
Go our sympathies with prayers
That may God give them strength to bear the tragedy

Is the monsoon on rampage
Churning out mayhem
Holding devotees' faith on thou art at bay?
Oh God! have mercy on thy devotees
For they are on their way
To thy door to worship and pray....!

'Is the monsoon on rampage Churning out mayhem' Powerful lines depicting the violent face of monsoon! At times, seeing the mad rage of monsoon, we are made to ask this question! I invite you to read my poem- Nature's Fury!
