Monster Poem by Erin Taylor

Monster

You look under your bed
check your closet once or twice
how can one be so gullible?
so foolish and blind?

Fear entangles itself in you
reenacts your insecurities with
fierce trembles and
flashes of broken memories
Your eyes show cracks in your mirrors
pieces hanging carelessly on fragile edges
the blood spatter makes your mind see red
or is that rose-colored glasses?

Day in and day out
you watch CSI
to find out who's your killer
yet you're the one holding the knife
how can one be so gullible?
so foolish and blind?
