Morning Poem by Victoria Robbins

Morning

The alarm on my phone
won't stop ringing
it's way too early to get out of bed
The chick on the radio is singing
like it's great to be alive (but I'm nearly dead)
For a couple of seconds
could I close my eyes?
Another hour of slumber in sweet disguise

The alarm on my phone
won't stop beeping
I'm way too tired to go to school
I wish that I could keep on sleeping
but the face of my clock is relentlessly cruel
For a couple of seconds could I just lie still?
I'm not quite ready for the daily drill

The alarm on my phone
won't stop sounding
I just don't feel like getting dressed
Is it really that astounding
that someone like me wants to get some rest?
For a couple of seconds could I lay back down?
In this sea of blankets, I'm sure to drown.
