Mortal Man Poem by Mpho Nkadimeng

Mortal Man

Somewhere maybe it's a part that you would part from me
And lie in wastes of these holocenes
You flocked through trends of lullabying teeth unseeing
And sing silent songs with dying sheep
You stalked your presence to kiss this scene we would have for eternity
Now you in the dawn of these epoch streams
Though once you said It was not magnificent
And stayed above all these hell years
Chanted divinity across all reasons
To cherish the sleep that even bears and wolves had
Now I can see from miles that the smile has died
But Mortal man we be
We cross tear stream intertwining lips
Face fears when souls are weak
The damage gets bold as humanity burns a whole in our history
Thrust emptiness in where we are to celebrate our victories
Oh god make me apart so I can part to have another part with my memories
Because It hurts to be an extension of a lost chord
Nothing I step to levels my lost degree of these unfundamental credits
See its enough for me cause I'm enough with me
Cause what once I knew is now not magnificent
It's an awful fresh kind of hell years
They gently flay and strip the joys of my dreams
Now I can't see my smile for pride in life
They say we mortal man
We stay to break time with smiles
And we wish for its inexistence when those smiles break to cries
Christmas nights clutches my mind away so to lose your hologram
All my brothers said it will be fine
But time still recognises you more in mind
Because we climbed trees perceive life to its far distance
To see how the world wants itself to be
Now I don't know where I hid our memories
But once I know I know you will be magnificent
Cause we are mortal man
We love through pain
And cry through happiness
But most of all we rise above all these damned hell years
I will Tackle bears and wolf's teeth again and again just to have you here with me
And I will see you through miles and miles of shredded smiles and hopes that died
Cause we mortal man
And our code is to tread upon immortal roads
To find that we have bodies disfiguring our souls
And when we cry for other mortal man with mortal deeds
We realise the mortality lingers and stays as an immortal wou
