Mortal, Mortality Poem by Jean Malicsi

Mortal, Mortality

How does a mortal begins his life's journey?
Bearing in mind humans are subject to mortality
From birth to death to a soul bound for eternity
Can our journey be measured by years of earthly stay?

At the age of discernment, mortals wish to achieve plenty
Yet, no matter how hardworking and sedulous to crave for many
Mortals stumble and fall but we rise and stand again with valor
To find meaning and life's purpose for God's glory and honor;

Can abundance of graces be appreciated if we never experience nothingness?
Can happiness be savored if we never experienced loneliness?
Can success be sweetest if we never experience failure?
Can sigh of relief be heaved if we never experience sickness and cure?

Contentment can placate desire to reach beyond our capacity
Happiness can aso be found in moments of pauses to smell the flowers and in life's simplicity
Sweet success without experiencing failure are found in acts of charity
Heave a sigh of relief every so often for God's healing touch, love and mercy;

At mortal's twilight, flesh and bones weakens, darkness creeping
The mind and the heart softly whisper the worries and cares through praying
Life's journey seemed to be waning but continously wandering for soul searching
Seeking God's affirmation if our journey as mortals was worth His blessing.
