Mother Poem by Chris Wrzesien

Mother

Rating: 5.0

I'd rather look to the sky for answers -
she watches the world and provides the rain,
while books are closed and suddenly blinded -
they have no concept of blossoming change.

I'd rather look to the ground for wisdom -
after all, it reflects the sky.
And all the world will sink back in
when nature tells her children to die.

The tree knows more than all mankind.
After all, it's born of the ground,
where all the roots intertwine lovingly
to see what news the others have found.

And the bird, why, he's the smartest of all!
He lives in the trees and he's been to the sky,
which is why I listen when his chorus whistles:
all we need is to sing and to fly.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Chris, this is so flowing and descriptive in every way. It almost sounded like music as I read down the page. Looking to nature for answers certainly seems a great idea to me. Humans seem to be too complicated. Lovely piece. 10 Karin Anderson
