Mother Ma’land Poem by saadat tahir

Mother Ma’land

Rating: 5.0

years back......a bird stood shuddering on the tarmac with discontent deep in its bowels, as the grey haired captain eased up the throttle....the bird roared sprang to life and took wing....as i looked out the window at the receding landscape....i came up with a few lines
heres to motherland...wherever that maybe
(Jeddah..1992)

Waking up in a sultry morn
blistering sun has a desert born
Ablaze at once in early dawn
Alight aflame afire and on
Dazzle dry daft and drone
Afraid aghast aback alone
Land itself an shrubs small
rocky crops and jagged tops
stiff stade stark and stone
droop dangle dusty prone
jutted jagged rugged sawn
no shade glade blade or lawn
vicious land and shifting sands
Endless dunes and parched stands
howling harsh and heated land
searing sizzling singeing sand
dried beds and winding lays
broken baked for endless days
Deathly drifts and desert ships
Withering way of wilting whips
Insect, lizard, bird of prey
Snake and camel fox aflay
Tumble weed and scattered seed
Thorn and thimble water need
Dated dotted dingy dens
Prying prickly pared pens
Rising dust in a distant streak
Eternal illusion in strewn bleak
Black and the white, hiding grays
silent watching Bedouin preys
Heady scent of mother ma land
Back again in a coddling hand
The harrowing life’s, done behind
Soaring stance in a feisty mind
Wafting wisps of abundant charms
Singing springs and schooling swarms
Everglades and pristine hues
Merry moods and vivid views
Feathery fronds of falling flakes
Lapping lull of lovely lakes
Merry moods and misty morns
Pines plumes blooms acorns
Rustling firs and grassy shades
Drifting lilies in pleasant jades
Shady plush in heavenly hues
Scattered Steeped in spectral cues
Way ward world can never undo
My eternal endless love for you
