Mother Of A Pearl Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Mother Of A Pearl

Just like an oyster shell rolls itself
deep in the vast ocean seas
securing it's preciousness
until it delivers the pearl within
to the one who finds it;
every mother values her child
until the goal he seeks, he finds;
just like the earth hides the diamond
until it reaches the king's crown,
so will a mother keep away her child
from whirlpool of temptations and sins
when that child upon his mother's courage
walks to multiply his own courage
his own innocence, his own glory of strife;
humble is that child, that mother
who in each others strength find grace
to walk together the foot steps of struggles
to conquer the joy of truthfulness and nobility.
