Mother's Day (Grieving Mother) Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Mother's Day (Grieving Mother)

Rating: 2.7

Mother's Day is your saddest day
It's your day to wish away and to cry
It hurts so deeply inside
And you try to hide
As the world for others goes merrily by

How do you get through another day
when this once special one is at hand
where do you go for consul
How could anyone understand
As others celebrate this day throughout the land

But dearest mother please sit with me
I'll comfort you and wipe your tears away
Life has no right to tear at you
and to treat your gentle heart this way
A little longer with me, stay

The future is uncertain and the past can hurt so too
Sometimes we run from both
But for now, I'm her to comfort you
Care for this loneliness you can't push away
Reminded by this once blessed holiday

What we forget is that all mothers
from their children must one day part
and of love and life, that's the hardest part
For today dearest mother, think of a happier time
Let's go back to the start

Remember the joy and delight
when your child grew inside your stomach tight
Remember the quiet moments that you sat
and dreamed about a boy or girl
can you remember that

Remember the happiness on the special day
that your little baby first saw the light of day
We would not ever wish that moment away
Or let those feelings of love get caught up in the fray
Love is always a reason to smile, as I wipe your tears away.

You have a beautiful heart you know
Sad that so few notice or say
You've been through so much unfair
You must dry your tears and rest today
As we make Mother's Day happy in it's own way

Your own mother
We must think of her
For all her quirks and imperfections
You love her dearly and in the mirror sometimes
you see her in your own reflections

Think upon her today
And give her all the love in your heart
Because for you, she tried best to do her part
and loved you in her own special way
Be thankful for her this Mother's Day

And now back to parting
though it hurts to think or say
All mothers will be parted from their child
eventually if not before this day
And so to Heaven we cast our love, far away

So if your child has hurt you,
Has departed or gone astray
If they've just plain forgotten you
Let's remember, all of love does not disappear
And does not so easily fall by the way

Let's send our love out from deep inside
no more reason today for sadness to keep and hide
Let's put it in a special prayer and cast it out wide
Because of Motherhood you gave your best
You loved, and persevered and always tried

So smile mother because you never failed
You did your best before the last ship sailed
You saw it through and passed every test
You held your child closely to your chest
And now today, feel God's love and rest.

For all your sorrow and sadness
Your heart will find again it's gladness
Know that one day your child and you will share again
When Heaven opens up to you it's gate
And joy will fill your heart, in greater degree, than your long wait.

Happy Mother's Day to a wonderful mom
Your love is so much stronger than your fate
So hold dear the special times that linger in your heart
Dote on the kind memories that just won't part
God blessed you with a Mother's Heart
