Mother's Love (Seeing A Son Carry A Big Pot Of Gold.) Poem by U Win Kyi

Mother's Love (Seeing A Son Carry A Big Pot Of Gold.)

Once there lived in a dense forest,
a Son, a Mum and a Dad.
The parents were very old,
but the Son was young and bold,
living among the animals,
without marrying but staying single.
Taking care of his parents,
and serving them, his heart never sank.

To his parents, he was so good,
Every morning, he searched for the fresh fruits.
Then he cooked rice and some dishes,
a good son's duty, he never missed.
In the afternoon, from the nearby stream, he fetched water,
a regular routine no matter what the weather.
At night he massaged his parent's weary legs,
until they had soundly slept.

They were living a happy life.
Then a misfortune happened to his parents one night.
A cobra snake jetted the venom into their eyes,
which went blind later and it caused him wail a loud cry.
The proverb says ' Misfortune never comes alone.'
So true, when the Son was away from the home.
He was stalked by a hunter,
thinking that he was a strange creature.
He shot the arrow at the Son,
piercing him at heart and lung.
He died of the injury.
The hunter found out he was a human regrettably.

The parents prayed to Heaven and there appeared an angel,
who would solve their problem very well.
He asked them to choose one from the following 3 choices.
1. a big pot of gold,2.resurrection of their Son,3.regain their eye sight.

The parents said, ' We want to see the Son carry a big pot of gold.'
The angel fulfilled their wish because about the good Son he did know.

The story with a happy ending is retold and retold,
from generation to generation that follow,
teaching the son and daughter that the parents always do for them the best.
So it is no doubt, they really deserve a great respect,
not retort or yelling back.
