Mothers' Day Poem by Dorsey Baker

Mothers' Day

Witness the sun
peeking over the mountain
its wearing your skirt
it has your eyes
in the thickness of
the dark green grass
a grasshopper
finds its way home
the light of day
brings a new morning
its coffee with
sugar and cream
heavy with much crying
just a pebble
in the hourglass of time
a brand new baby girl or
baby boy is born
the river is on the rise
and the ocean is on the move
