Mournful Death Songs Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Dark clouds appear on horizon,
Deems some layers cracked ozone
Awful scene and frightening noise,
Nature’s fury and destruction to poise,

No good omen and sign of unusual,
Nature looks not normal and casual,
Sign of bad events to follow and cause,
Breaking of silence and very long pause,

Death descended on a humble man,
Family, relatives try whatever they can,
Destiny’s final and has to be responded,
No one knows time as it is encoded,

With last breath, cried filled sky,
Final journey but why people cry?
Whoever is on earth has to comply,
There is no question and certainly no reply,

Beating a chest with awful sound,
With face cover ladies gather in round,
Dear one has gone and never to be found,
Body for final appearance and lay on ground,

Touching feet with sobbing voice,
Tears filled, face sullen doesn’t look nice,
Left behind all with tearful farewell,
Head bowed down even if unwell,

Songs may include words in his praise,
Crying more with peak voice rise,
Joining more people making it worse,
To carry a body on cart horse,

Ladies and gents may throw whole weight on body,
Allow it not happen taken out by somebody,
But has to be descent farewell and honour,
All join procession including neighbour,

All good works remembered and spoken,
Heart filled with grief but not broken,
It is major journey and love token,
Body on carriage and slowly taken

Time may pass and wounds will be healed,
Not the absence easily concealed,
In private or to visitors always revealed,
Here was a person whose fate completely sealed
