Mumbai Bomb Blasts Poem by Arundhati Hoskeri

Mumbai Bomb Blasts

Rating: 3.0

The Bon Bon parties
The late night movies
Maddening disco dandiayas
The hand in hand strolls
On the Marine Drive
Bombay the
Beautiful city
That never slept
The peaceful city
Adored by all
The commercial capital
That gave livelihood to many
Then the
Series of 13 bomb blasts
That rocked the heaven
Heinous killings
Mutilating lives
The human blood shed
Plundering the fabulous creation
Of God
The fear gripped public
The panic stricken humans
Blaming each other
Blaming each other
Hating each other
Suspecting each other
Waiting to
Harm each other
All this in the name
Of our own CREATOR!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Series of 13 bomb explosions took place in Mumbai (Bombay) Maharashtra, India on Friday,12 march 1993. The single day attacks were the most destructive blasts in Indian history, that resulted in so many fatalities and injuries. This organised crime was in the name of religion! I was deeply hurt and could not sleep or relax for almost a week. As I was watching all this on television, tears were rolling down and that very night I penned my thoughts down. It still hurts me, why do we hate each other, no religion in the world teaches us cruelty or hatred. If we can harness all our energy for peaceful co existence, undoubtedly this world will be a beautiful place to live.
