My Advice Poem by Hannington Mumo

My Advice

Listen to what your mum has to say,
To your father's words attention pay;
Don't fret when they correct,
For in future you shall rejoice
If you now listen to their voice.

Hear your teachers when they speak,
Be never in any rush or get heedless quick
When they talk or advice you,
For days are short and moments few;
You'll soon be all on your own,
You may win yourself a golden crown
Or perish forever if you ignore their words.

Love your God and your Creator
Be worshipful and calm before His altar
Utter no blasphemies nor break His commands.
Because all blessings he freely grants
To those that keep His laws.
He relieves them from all their woes.

And do to your neighbor
All the good and all the favor,
That you may want done to you
And you'll enjoy all these, too!
