My Bossom Friend Poem by Maureen Alikor

My Bossom Friend

Oh!
How I dread you
when you draw near...
My smiles flee,
though the owl mount trees
hooting away the time
I still dread you

when loneliness hugs
oh! How I dread the calm
when everything comes to a halt
and I try to be strong
yet the dreadful still unfolds

surrounded by silent whispers
pleasurable fear becomes my partner
and solace is found in the warm embrace of the night
with glee we play the clap game
still I dread you

oh! How I pray
for the break of a new dawn
oh! How I await the glare of the bright sun
where dreams will be lifted
and given a new horizon
yet I dread but need you here

the deep is gone deeper
the day has drawn nearer
its hug has gotten tighter
this embrace has to take longer
oh! How I dread you
my departed bosom friend
