My Broken Spirit Poem by Paula Glynn

My Broken Spirit

Rating: 5.0

My spirit is bruised and hurt,
I have no love left to beating in this heart,
You have broken this heart,
And left me to drown in the rain.

I am now all alone,
With no love or home,
I feel isolated in a world made of stone.
I only have memories left to comfort me,
But they don't comfort me:
They just leave me to brood and cry,
Like the day you said goodbye.

I play these lovesongs hoping for comfort,
But your love is just a ghost,
And I cry these tears alone,
For I loved you the most,
The good times we had together,
Just making this broken spirit cry more,
At the end, we were almost at war,
But I never felt hatred,
For what we had was sacred,
We worshipped at the alter of friendship,
Like the life giving oxygen of love.

But now you're gone,
And I am left to pick up the pieces,
All those photographs from yesterday,
Hurting my heart as I remember,
And now you're gone,
I'm left here to think and ponder,
For you will always be my best friend,
No matter how far in time those memories.
