My Brother Franky Poem by Alexander Foald

My Brother Franky

I’ve been waiting on this bridge
Waiting for the time that never comes
It feels like a thousand years for me
And it’s since I met you an hour ago

The night turns so cold
It’s snowing into my purple eyes
The river is frozen out under
And I’ve been crying for a mile now

Life can be so hard for a man like me
But there were times when you cheered me up
Even though everything ended so broken apart
You always seemed to know what to do

And the end was approaching
Everything finally seemed so fixed and right
When you finally smiled on your own
You forgot to open your eyes

I’ve been waiting on this bridge
Still waiting for someone that will never come back
It feels like a minute remembering your faint smile
And it’s since I met you a long time ago

*I made this while listening to Sinatra's Moon River. I'd like to dedicate this to Frank. =)
