My Butterfly Poem by Christabel Kamoche

My Butterfly

Colours, life, vigour
Bright as the day
Brought joy as the morning sky
My butterfly

I have caught so many afore
But all wanted away
I tried to hold the back
But they wouldn't tally a while

Jumping from flower to another
I cried
My heart sank as a pebble in the water can
With misty eyes I watched 'em fly away
Towards the sun

My heart in pieces
Lost all hope
But then you came along slowly
Gradually
As the dawn of day

Twas happy
But deep inside lies fear

Afraid to hold you
Lest you too wish away
If only there was a sign
For a promise afore I've heard

Glad to see you?
Yes i am
But afraid
Time, the wise philosopher will tell
I know he will
