~my Connection With The Ocean~ Poem by Michael Raymond Knight

~There is a special relationship I have with the ocean
Something that at times is indescribable

A spiritual power that comes over my body and mind

I slip away to a place where sound is irrelevant and my thoughts for some reason aren't consumed by time

With the hustle and bustle of my everyday life
Sometimes I forget about this paradise that helps me escape

But as soon as we're reunited its as if talking to a friend again you've known your whole life

Ever since I can remember I've had this connection

Which at times is one sided, you see she doesn't care whether I come or go

Either way her massive strength will push to and fro

Eroding at the sand barricades that merely attempt to restrict her

Allowing all that is life to exist with her permission

Granting me an occasional glimpse at the life that flourishes within her

When im diving there is no sound except that of my own heartbeat

So in reality the ocean allows me to get more acquainted with myself

Pushing my own body's limits in an attempt to see more of her beauty

Savoring the moment when the residents of this sanctuary interact with me

Whether its a fish's curiosity or a nurse sharks audacity

Each connection I hold onto as fuel until the next visit to this women mother ocean and her many gifts of life! ~
