My Dark Asylum Poem by Jacqueline Williams

My Dark Asylum

Mystic metal, writhing, twisting, touch ice cold
Forms foreboding, barring entry, guarding paths threshold.
Dreadful shivers, fear provoking motion frozen still
Must move forward, ring for entry, forced by will.

Who must answer, head now pounding prickling fright
Sun past setting, Moon not rising, dark skies own tonight.
Body aching, tension tight, uncertain thoughts now come
Will anyone I know out there, discover what I've done?

Standing, waiting, petrified, my crime unfolds
Horrified, alarmed, afraid, my blood runs cold.
Disbelief, self loathing, doubt, mind and body numb
Guilt, confusion sliding down, into chaos, mayhem, bedlam.

Could I ask forgiveness?
Could I be set free?
Could anybody...  still love me?
