My Dead Aunt Poem by Atasha Williams

My Dead Aunt

Rating: 5.0

My dear Aunt Jillian,
There's nothing I would not give to hold your hand.
To see your beautiful face,
Your arms I want to embrace,
To see your contagious smile,
I wish I can see you for at least a little while

Jus to sit and talk, share something funny,
When a life is lost, can't buy it back with money
I wish to God I was near you,
I wish to God that I knew
You alone know how hard it was for you,
You and God alone know all that you've been through

You were like a mother to me
We even resemble, cant you see
I was like a daughter to you, way before you got one,
We used to lime and go shopping, having lots of fun.

Knesha, Keron and Kevin,
I can't even imagine to you how hard it has been,
To loose both parents now, is maybe the worst,
I swear if it was me, some vein somewhere wuda burst.

I want you to know tho, we are all here for you.
Feel free to call us anytime, love for family have to be true
We shouldn't wait til tragedy for us to come together,
Live & love & laugh, stop fighting down each other.

My loving Aunt, you are gone, so very far away,
Each of us will die in our own separate way
But right now, my heart grieves in pain,
I will never get the chance to see you again.

I love you bad.
Best Aunty I ever had
Sure you are up there smiling at me,
You are now pain free
Tell Jesus and dem Hello for me...
On the wings of an eagle you fly so high,
So hard for us all to say Good bye....

Check 1st word of 2nd stanza; just a suggestion! ! 3rd stanza: check cant, AND, besides being a fruit, what is lime? Does it mean to pick limes? I like the picture. You? Or the dead aunt? I was attracted to the title because you typed Dead. Some people would use a euphemism like departed, passed on, expired, .....but I like dead, the word, here. I better read the rest of it! I wuda used wuda if I hada thought of it. Hee hee. I liked the '3 L's' for the '3 K's'. Very nice. Bri :)

Hiii Bri, In Trinidad we use dialect in our speech so it comes out naturally in writing sometimes Used mainly for emphasis. A 'lime' in Trini dialect means a small party among few persons, just hanging out maybe drinking alcohol and having fun. That pic is my aunt. I miss her... Death is part of living. I did this poem for her funeral. May she rest in peace. Thank you for you words of encouragement and your suggestions are warmly appreciated. Atasha

Rich and wonderful tribute paid to a adorable lady who left a great void after her death. Each of us will die in our own separate way But right now, my heart grieves in pain,
