My Dear Friend Poem by connie shockley

My Dear Friend

You my dear bring such ecstasy and joy into my life, as my lover and friend
I dread the time I must return to my reality, to my mundane, routine existence
To find my cold empty house, and the hectic crazy days that seem to never end
To crave the warmth of your embrace, wanting to feel your heartbeat through the distance

It was so long since I have been with you, my very dear and special friend way too long
So enjoy this time with you I will, savor all there is to be shared, laying in your arms
Listening to your breath as you sleep beside me feeling you next to me, if only for awhile we belong
Hoping you’ll also remember these special moments of bliss, contentment and all its charms

I pray we don’t wait too long to find our way back into our special little world, our oasis alone
It’s more than the physical attraction, the comfort of two souls who travel now on different pathways
You are my dear friend, who I have come to love and cherish, our spirits entwined even though we walk the unknown
Separate and apart we know we are more than just friends; we are travelers searching on different highways

So to you I give this spell:

May our paths always wind to find each other on this journey of ours
Whether it be far or near, to remember each other now and again
May the goddess bless us with happiness, love and many happy hours
Until we find our way back to each other again and again
