My Dear Mrs. Reed Poem by Gregory Corban Jr.

My Dear Mrs. Reed

My dear Mrs. Reed, you were always there for me.
My dear Mrs. Reed, you loved to chat while sipping tea.
My dear Mrs. Reed, I could always talk to you.
My dear Mrs. Reed, I knew you could help me through.
Your loving smile shone while we made small talk.
Talking with you was worth the walk.
The years after we grew apart.
But you will always hold a place in my heart.
My dear Mrs. Reed, you were one who helped me grow.
My dear Mrs. Reed, your departure from this world has left me with much sorrow.
My dear Mrs. Reed, thanks to you the trial I face I can make through.
My dear Mrs. Reed, to thank you for all you have done, I wrote this poem fo you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Mrs. Reed was a little old lady living down the road from my house. She took care of her fifty year old son who had a serious mental issue. She was really amazing, in fact until she turned eighty-two she would piggyback Johnny, her son, to the bathroom and back. When I was around five I would go down to her house almost everyday. She was very kind and helped my through troubles, even one very very hard time. As I grew older I stopped seeing her. Her son died about five years after I stopped talking with her often, she was still very healthy. But no more than three years after new came that she had a heartattack. The next day we were heading to see her at the hospital when the neighbors told us her stoy had ended no more than a few hours before.
