My Eyes Were Closed

My eyes were closed I but could stare
Until with great surprise
I saw a Presence standing there
The Lord was such a size

My eyes were closed but now I see
The might of Jesus’ hand
I praise my God for lifting me
From out the shifting sand

The darkness comes on evil’s wing
Whilst eyes are closed up tight
But praise the Lord, I now can sing
Through Jesus’ guiding Light

I praise my God for liberty
Wonders I now survey
This child was bound, but now I’m free
Thank God I’ve found “The Way”

God’s Light has come the Lord is here
My eyes are open wide
Within “The Truth” is all so clear
All darkness cast aside

I’m flying high without a care
In spirit truly bold
My soul can see and longs to share
Each word the Lord has told

Now all who hear these words I pray
Give praise to God above
For eyes that see both night and day
The wonders of His love

This selfless love so crystal clear
Has opened wide these eyes
For Satan’s snares I’ve no-more fear
In Christ I’m far to wise.
