My Favorite Place. Poem by Derrick Andrews

My Favorite Place.

Flowing throughout me,
From head to toe,
A feeling of glee,
That does not go,

Recognized accomplishments,
Goals to achieve,
Revitalized confidence,
No need to grieve,

The friends around me,
Strengthen me daily,
The music inside me,
Is always Playing,

A tune for the ears that the heart will recall,
Lyrics spoken from the mouth of one who's seen it all,
Memories that flow freely like the gentle noon breeze,
Or ones that come as abruptly, as an uncomfortable sneeze,
Spurring you forth, like a puppet on strings,
Cheering you on like the blue bird that sings,
Lifting your spirit to a realm quite well known,
A place where your mind, with its broad wings, has flown,
To the brink of solitude, where one is as one wishes,
And where all food available are your favorite dishes,
Where bitter fruit tastes like pure love on a bun,
Where watching the leaves dance is more than great fun,
A land that sparkles so beautifully, you simply must stare,
And if you ever wish to visit, let music take you there.
