My Fickle Heart Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

My Fickle Heart

How strange I do not think of her
This moment that we are apart,
Can there be someone I prefer
Who beckons to my fickle heart?

Confusion rules within me now
And doubt has filled my troubled mind,
So I forget my lover's vow
And prove that I am false and blind! !

There's someone else I long to touch,
Some other lips that I would kiss,
And has it really come to this
When I have loved her oh-so-much?

I never dreamed that I would be
Seduced by someone else's charms,
This is my sin, my treachery,
I long to hold you in my arms! !
