My God Who Covers Poem by Lorene Kinsey

My God Who Covers

God, I wrote of all the sin
That weighed my heavy heart.
And now I shed them like a coat
With your grace a work of art.

Coldness, emptiness, I once knew well
Loneliness and anger in me,
Has broken chains that hinder and hold
Setting this sinner free.

I pray that I can veer from choices
Though expecting to stumble and fall,
Comforted that my God who covers
Will pick me up to stand strong and tall.
