My Hangover Poem by John A. Hancock

My Hangover

When I wake up in the morning
My head feels like its lead
I stare into the mirror
Wishing I was dead
My eyes are all blood shot
My mouth is parch'd and dry
Every sound I hear today
Seems like it magnified
When I look at food
My tummy quickly warns me
Any attempt at eating and
I will be really sorry
All thru the day
I suffer through my pain
I tell myself over and over
I will never drink again
But as I start to feel better
My promise disappears and
Soon as I get a chance
I grab another beer
