I see life's beauty all around me,
No clouds in my sky of blue;
A gentle breeze carries the song of a bird,
But my heart is longing for you
I gaze at the rivers and the valleys,
I walk through forests wet with dew;
I try to become one with nature and peace,
But my heart is longing for you
I watch children laughing and playing,
In their world, worries are few;
I want to escape to happier times.....
But my heart is longing for you
I prayed to the Lord for comfort,
He showed me the gate to pass through,
I wanted to go, but I couldn't leave,
My heart is just longing for you
Then the Lord said 'Let me show you, '
And Heaven came into full view;
My eyes filled with tears, again I refused,
It wouldn't be Heaven without you
And the wait for your love will continue,
My frailty makes it hard to pursue;
But this is a burden I must carry,
For my heart is just longing for you
Love is so fulfilling, yet often so tantalizingly elusive, and leaves us without desire for anything else. Fine work, Lora. :)
For my heart is just longing for you the poem is radiant with the soulful refrain!
I love the way you rhyme Lora. This is fine poetry and the longing for someone is felt throughout. Good stuff.

You are a skilled poetess..the longing for that special person is so apparent...as usual beautifully presented with rhythm and rhyme. Into my poemlist
