My Journey To Heaven Poem by Heather Albright

My Journey To Heaven

My temporary stay is coming to an end.
I'm only concerned with my wife, my best friend.
I trust that my Lord will watch over her when I'm gone.
All day and night, starting at the break of dawn.
As I lay here in bed so ill, so sick.
I thank the Lord for Ginny, Dory, and Mick.
Suddenly, I noticed a stairway appear.
And my Savior came down with a face so sincere.
He offered his precious hand for me to take.
And my illness was gone! As well as every ache.
'Please take my hand, ' I heard him cry.
So I took his hand and kissed my love goodbye.
He carried me away to a road of pure gold.
Then, we appeared at pearl gates I could hardly behold.
Trumpet lines, and songs of praise as far as I can see.
Is all this celebration really just for me?
'Indeed it is because you are a precious child of mine.
And every child of mine deserves of all the most divine.'
We talked as he led me to his one and only thrown.
I gazed at all the mansions and he took me to my own.
This mansion is the special place my Savior kept for me.
And as I wait to reunite with all, this is where I'll be.

In loving memory of Robert Albright
