My Lost Love Poem by Leopold Gunther

My Lost Love

Rating: 4.0

For you my heart beats
Soundly its pulse is fixated on your every breath
Awaiting your word, Your voice
It was your blonde hair
Your blue eyes and full lips that brought the tears to my eyes
And my knees to the ground
As your with him, his red hair ignites my jealousy
His feigned mood heightens my anger
it is him that I despise
for merely having your attention
and it is him that I will not retain
it is him that i will not refrain from utter loathing
But the thought of you shadows my hurts and pains
the idea of you heals my soul so bitterly
I miss you, and I regret ever denying you
Your every image is instilled in my soul
And I still remember when I could sing in your ear
“you look so fine” and we would giggle, intoxicated from our passion
yet it is you I no longer have
it is you I have lost
it is you I'm bound to never find
girl, it is you I will never forget
and then you would whisper to me 'lets pretend, happy end'
my pace quickened by your tone, and the sultry silk of your voice
and my heart broken by the words that cut like a stiletto
the tip brandished and sharpened by the cruelest of intentions
girl, still I will say, even as I write this
“I would be love and sweetness, if I had you.”
