My Man's Poor Mind (Or) How Much Does Your Happiness Cost? (Lyrics) Poem by Leah Ayliffe

My Man's Poor Mind (Or) How Much Does Your Happiness Cost? (Lyrics)

Rating: 3.5

In your office and fancy business suit
You flash a smile that I hardly knew
It carried an air of emptiness
And yet you promised dear lord it was true

In a star-crossed love affair
With your desktop and ink blue pens
Your fingers trace keys instead of me
mistress of a glamorous dime

It makes me wonder how you spend your mind
How many hours spent seducing dollars?
It makes me wonder how much your happiness cost
I see the heated desire, a sick need to get higher
Late nights alone, raking in pretty money
Alone, alone, lonely
Raking in the pretty money

Happy that I make you laugh
Laughing cause I don't mind
That I'm just a sparkling distraction
Your sweet girl on the sideline

And it's such a lovely city
flashy casino lights make a beautiful sound
I don't mind your date with finances
I'm the happiest kid in town

But it makes me wonder how you spend your mind
How many hours spent seducing dollars?
It makes me wonder how much your happiness cost
I see the heated desire, a sick need to get higher
Late nights alone, raking in the pretty money
Alone, alone, lonely
Raking in the pretty money

I got free
Free
I got free
Swinging in the park
Dancing in the dark
I'm a spark,
Ignite me, ignite me
You can't find me
Swimming in your heart of cash
Hotel luxury
Baby set your mind free

Late nights alone, raking in the pretty money
Alone, alone, lonely
Raking in the pretty money

All the pretty money in the world
And you will never leave your world
It breaks my diamond mind

There is so much things you can't buy with money, [- You are right Mr.Ahsan. Money cannot buy love, or friends.

There are many things money cannot buy, there are many joys money can gobble up.

That is definitely an interesting perspective! I wrote this inspired by capitalism and how much people waste their time earning money and working to save money, and never truly getting to enjoy much of life.
