More than the beauty of the narrative, it is the profound lesson taught by a mother to her son without inflicting any blow to this young man's dignity. The poet has done a great job. Thanks. (Report) Reply

My mother, incredibly sweet, incredibly bright
Swallowed her anger but asked in a voice, slightly tight

Only a few minutes later, it is hard to believe
My cousin was called and he had to leave
This left us alone, that beautiful car, and me
The temptation was great, as great as could be,
I could not resist and became a thieve (Report) Reply

This is an incredible poem, and I loved how you showed a great lesson learned
in a poem. Your mom was a really smart woman, and it is amazing that I also
learned about stealing in a very similar way, long, long ago. Though it was a
similar incident but taught to me by a friend....by explaining how I would feel.
I love this excellent poem! (and reminding me of an important life lesson once learned!) (Report) Reply
