My One True Friend Poem by Juan Natal

My One True Friend

Hello, again, my one true friend,
Ever present since I was young.
How now, again, my oldest friend?
Always there, the only one.
Here I sit and await the day
When you show me your proverbial grin,
And I will smile back, and it'll be okay,
For I always knew you were not so grim.
My sweetest friend, I wait in this place
For you to come and me to get,
I await the coolness of your embrace
And your greatest gift: to forget.
For now, my promises need keep me busy here.
But I await you, oldest friend, without any fear.
