My Only Friend (Edited) Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

My Only Friend (Edited)

My only true friend was taken away
Stolen by the great God Mortality
So now with the Stars your spirit does lay
Another soul succumbs to entropy

Many times we argued when you were here
Lost in my own petty controversy
Fond memories of you always bring tears
But your time was up understandably

You were always there when I needed you
And stood by me over many long years
Like a beacon you shined when all was blue
Your love for me will always remain dear

Hard to forget after all we've been through
But to heaven gone, born a life anew
