My Place Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

My Place

I believed fairy tales were for kids
I believed stories of bloodshed were mannish
I believed love was a shared union
And I believed the world was one

I thought they loved us
I felt they were with us
I trusted in our earth
And I believed in you

But no! Not in my place
Where people live fairy-tale lives
Where people are isolated
And behave individually
