My Princess Poem by Lilly James

My Princess

She's skipping through the snow
Lauging at the promise made
That she'll always be a princess
She's not a princess
Princesses wouldn't jump in snow
Daddy says she's a princess
She's his little perfect princess
Even if she jumps in the snow
She'll always be his little princess
She's laughing I'm not a princess
Her father says that's not true
Every girl is their daddy's princess
No matter what things they do
But daddy she expressed I'm not a princess
She frowned I don't have a silver crown
Or a beautiful long pink gown
She thought she could never be a princess
Her father said she had to take care
Of herself that he's leaving soon
You'll make a great queen some day
I'll be back soon to see just how much
My little princess has grown
She looked at him and knew he was in danger
He was headed off to fight in a war
She cried daddy please stay
Every princess needs a king
He smiled at her as reasurance
But she felt very scared
He smiled you'll get to go live with
Cousin Susie and aunt Beth
She said daddy wars aren't
A place for kings and every daddy
Is a king if every daughter is a princess
So why must kings leave their princesses
To fight with guns in a bloody war
That is not a place for kings
He left for war the next day, on a ship
So large it could fit a million men
He was gone for a very long time
He came home when the little princess
Turn sixteen he was in a box
That could barely fit a man
The king returned to the princess
The day she became a queen
