My Son, My Ethan Poem by Mae Ethan

My Son, My Ethan

For you, my son... My Beloved Ethan...

Before you came, I was so carefree
My world means nothing, my life was so boring
Before you came, my life has no direction
No focus, no hope, no goal, no dream
Lost even the sense of admiration...

But when you came, you caused this transformation
You became my sole inspiration, all worthy of adulation
Your first cry, first smile, first laugh even your first sigh
All the 'firsts' you have in your life
Forever will be cherished in my heart, inside...

Never have I felt a love like this, & it's something new
A mother's love for her son, so beautiful, so true
A love that grows, that nurtures, that cares
Rest assured you have my whole heart, no one to share!
Taken out of my womb & you were born
From then on, I was never forlorn
Being a mother in all sense of the word
Is truly a wonderful thing, or so I heard...

I gave you the name ETHAN OLEANDER
ETHAN stands for a man, the other, a flower
I named you as such because truly you are
The little man of my dreams & a flower that's like a nature's art.

I love you, my son, but for the time being
Mommy has to leave to work for a living
It hurts me a lot to be away from you
I miss you so much, please understand my temporary adieu...
I know one day time will come we'll be together
And Mommy will be away from you, never! ! !

Let me end this poem with a phrase
From 'Joseph the Dreamer', the song, the play
'And when I looked inside my life, I see what I have done
I see you, I love you, my son'...

I hope this sums up that my life, my soul,
My heart, my mind, my body and my everything
Is you, My Sweet Ethan, or else...... NOTHING! ! ! ! !

I LOVE YOU!
