My Universe Poem by Stasia Uhrhammer

My Universe

Stars spin into galaxies
Passionate and ever-changing
They whirl by in a never-ending dance
Facing the dark with voices ringing.

Intricate weaves of gold and silver,
Crimson, violet, and softest pink
Smile slyly and slide by
Leaving me no chance to blink.

Their dances collide, shift, and change
And all that they are forever unites
To form one body, immense and great
With no regard to days and nights.

Unaffected by my awe
The universe twists time into a single hour
And then laughs as I try to comprehend
The immenseness of its power

But like a small child I reach out
Wishing and willing it back to me
I don’t want to leave before I can view
All its wonder and mystery.

Yet the light through my window wakes my mind
Unashamed to break my dreams
And force me into this lesser reality
Which is so much smaller than it seems.
