My Upanishadic Birdie Pie 3 Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

My Upanishadic Birdie Pie 3

Rating: 5.0

My little birdie was already perched on the mango bough,
As I got up next morning, and peeped through the window!
I felt, she was waiting for me!
She sat quietly without any movement.
I picked up my book and began writing.
I completed a couple of verses,
And then, looked up!
I was amazed to see my little birdie- pie,
Sitting so still,
So peaceful!

I moved forward to have a closer look at my birdie friend.
Did I see her nod?
Or was it a figment of my imagination?
Through her stillness and through her intense look,
She wanted to convey something!
Yes, of course! Suddenly it dawned on me.
She knew what I was thinking about.
The mysterious truth of man!
The amazing truth of this world!
The profound truth of man and this world!

Till today, I just could not see beyond
The objects of this vast world!
So enamoured by its outer glitter,
Stuck-up at the surface
I really believed that all that glittered was gold!
As a child, when my father told me:
"Look beyond, Look above, Look below, Look at both sides,
Look within! " I honestly could not comprehend his words!
Now, I begin to grasp things.
My birdie pie was here to guide me!
