My Veronica Poem by Thadey Henry Liganga

Veronica my love, my beautiful dear
I know you are very far no longer near
But wherever you are I know you can hear
And see what I'm going through here

You did promise me on your last birthday
That we would be together every single day
What made you think there was no other way?
Or what could I have done to make you stay?

You promised that I would have kids with you
But before it happened away you flew
You never waited for it to become true
Now you're gone I don't know what to do

What did I do to deserve all this?
Your love, your charm to always miss
The unique smile shown only by your lips
Which always and always called for a kiss

October thirteenth the year twenty ten
A Wednesday in my life that will go unforgotten
The day that my little angel was taken
For whom this poem was then written

I tried calling you dozens of times in vain
You did not respond, you never spoke again
I cried the whole day in grief and pain
That still couldn't make you remain

October fifteenth came the funeral
Just coming to worsen my sorrow
God please bring back my Vero
For her I'll wait for every tomorrow

Lord why did you let this happen?
My prayers God, couldn't you listen?
Didn't you have any other option?
That wouldn't leave me heartbroken?

Why did you choose her from all that I had?
Knowing that this would make me sad?
The good future I dreamt of has turned to be bad
And life for me has become very hard

I knew that one day we would part
But you just made it too fast
I used to think our love would last
But everything has now fallen apart

You are in my mind though out of my sight
Far beyond my reach but close to my heart
I'm thinking of you every day and night
You are someone I couldn't learn to forget

In my heart you've left an everlasting wound
And the pains of it know no bounds
But that's where the true you is found
Though the body is lying under the ground

You loved me very much, for me you would fight
In my darkest moments you were my light
Falling in love with you I'll never regret
I know someday somewhere we will meet

You went away with all my happiness
My smile is all dissolved in sadness
My light is gone I'm in total darkness
Without you it is terrible loneliness

I sleep we're together, I get up I'm on my own
You're mine in dreams I wake up you're gone
I spend the night with you in the morning I'm alone
This sometimes makes me wish I were never born

Vero please ask God to give me someone else
Someone good and worth your price
As beautiful as you, sweet and nice
To come turn my world back into a paradise


I wish I could give you my last kiss
Or just once hear your sweet voice
It's impossible and I have no choice
But to pray that your soul rest in peace
