My Wings Poem by julie kops

My Wings

If you could be the song in my heart
If you could be this broken angels wings
Would you forgive me all the shadowed parts
Would you believe the stars hear me sing?

If I broke open the vault of darkest night
And let you see my eternal pain
Would you share the dance with me
Would you love me in the mystic rain?

If I told you I'm frightened by my own dark
That the night often holds me in it's grasp
Would you hold me through the nightmares
Would you be the hand that I clasp

If I said I sometimes lose my way
That heaven seems an unreachable goal
Would you be my gentle peace of love
Would you cherish this damaged ruined soul

Sometimes I hold tightly to the best of me
And believe in my own eternal light
But other times I'm lost in darkened dreams
A lost child of the somber night

If I show you all the truth in me
If I give you the gift of my wounded heart
Would you love me despite my faults
Would you cherish even the shadowed parts

I am reaching ever for the light
Though I am in darkness forever bound
Would you love these ever broken wings
Would you be my solid ground?
