My Wolf And I Poem by Michelle Verschlagen

My Wolf And I

trees, leaves, dirt, sky
this is all i see as i run into the woods.
fast, smooth, deadly, beautiful
this is who i am, who i have become.
i run beside my beloved
i sprint away from my life
away from the complications
away from the unbearable pain
its just me and him
he is all that i can see or all that matters
i do not notice the pack following
or the submission of the others towards us
i do not notice the setting sun
or the dangers that may creep towards us
i am untouchable
i am invisible
i am impenetrable
i am fearless
because his blue eyes gaze at me behind his ruff
i know i am safe because its just me and him
running towards the life we lead
sprinting away from the unnecessary
i look towards my love
and see the return in his eyes.
trees, leaves, dirt, sky,
clouds, sun, rain, taste,
blue, white, pure, loved.
running through my moonlit forest is where i belong,
my wolf and i with the endless expanse of sky.

tell me, is this too long? open to comments.

Interesting tale. You've created such a mystical atmosphere with this poem. Lovely writing.
