My Yellow Bird
Oh! My yellow bird
What a lovely serenade you sing
For me in autumn you brought an early spring?
Are you glowing because you met your sweetheart?
-The loved one?
When a ticket to the fantasy land - you had won.
What about tomorrow’s sunrise?
Savant that you are - so wise
Do you know how the breeze will blow?
Will you perch again be on the same bough?
Will he come to meet you at the rendezvous?
Posers…the answers to which you already know.
I am sure what needs to be done, you will do
Alas! I wish I could emulate you.
Your beauty, your splendour, your innocence
In your love song you are a virtuoso par excellence.
Dream on - nature’s perfection - a work of art
Court your love as you please, play your part.
My little yellow bird I free you from all bondage
I know it is sheer cruelty to chain you in a cage
Let your imagination run to a new high
Next time we meet, there shall be two of you in the sky.
But do remember the promise you just made
Come what may; never end your melodious serenade.
