Necromantic Poem by Geneva Henderson

Necromantic

I sit in the Cemetery
Wait for her to return to me
We met accidental
You fell into my eyes
And scraped your knees
Whispering 'I love you' in the hush
Nightmare reality

Not all that's dead is buried
I think
As you speak
Poetry too perfect
A distant reality
Something I forgot
When I died
Beneath a brilliant Autumn
Sun

I tilt my head
As if your words are foreign
Something I've longed
To hear
A prayer falling from an Angel's
Gracious lips

I sit in the cemetery
Holding your hand
Resting on your shoulder
Dreaming once again
Having fallen into redemption
My savior from the pain,
I can no longer feel
