Need Poem by Delaney Rose

Need

Cars whisper me to sleep
They're the only thing I need.
The road screams the worlds secrets,
With the rising steam after a summer rain
They're the only thing I need.
The diamond riches
Hidden in the broken glass
Dazzling in the midday sun
It's the only thing I need
The unforgiving sacrifices
Little suicides, Little murders
Little gifts to the often questioned Gods
They're the only thing I need.
Strangers greeting you on the street.
Leaving trails of smoke, aftershave and shampoo
Leaving hints of their lives behind with you.
It's the onlyu thing I need.
It's those days, those people,
Where the silence speaks wonders
The hands that tell a thousand stories
In every line, every scar, every crease.
It's the only thing I need.
The warm heartbeat, pounding, fighting
Fighting to keep all the bad thoughts away
It's the only thing I need
The only thing I need.
