This great country of ours
Once lauded as the most prosperous
Once the hub of knowledge and learning
Once the origin of ethics and morals
Now bemoans with inflicted miseries
Independence gave us inevitable progress
Leaders and rulers kept us in inexplicable regress
Of our own making all the problems reign here
Divided are the people deprived is the cohesion
Horrible is the society with demands on caste lines
Elated are the leaders championing with narrow vision
Celebrated is the poverty and scarcity of people here
Feasted are the problems and miseries of common man
Nourished is the politics flourished are the politicians
Never allowed are solutions that eclipse their survival
Blame games, dirty tricks are handy weapons of polity
Power to rule the only aim, never the welfare of all
Short sighted populist schemes for creating vote banks
Here the fight is always for rights but duties never matter
Lawlessness at its peak never afraid are criminals
A change in perspective is the need of the hour
Leaders to be discouraged if narrow issues are raised
People to come out from the clutches of castes and faiths
Welfare of all the people will drive the country to progress
Paving the way to see our country once again Unique
Think of the people! Think of the country! Think of the future!
