Never Again Poem by Anisa Tara

Never Again

It's just me
In this car
And this rain
Again

I have no beer
I have no you
But there's this rain
And this woman
Singing over
And over again

Singing of something
Once familiar
Now a cause of pain
She sings, sings
To the steering wheel
To a former self
To the carpets
The stains
On the windows

She sings softly
To everything
That isn't me
And it ends
Then begins again

She sings of something
Wonderful somewhere
But here it's all pain

I just wanted you to know
That in this old car
And the violent rain
The song of this woman
Is the closest I'll ever come
To knowing love again
