New Poem by William B. Deutscher

New

Why this the sun creeping down the valley line
Changing the windblown shrubs and plants,
Breaking up the morning in another design?

All this will wait for your life and mine
Summoned forward amidst altered circumstance,
Why this the sun creeping down the valley line?

Here is caprice what was once thought divine
Now shuffled like cards, a tumult of chance,
Breaking up the morning in another design.

The shadow lingers on the edge of a shine
Gazed at with unseeing eyes viewed askance,
Why this the sun creeping down the valley line?

Perhaps there is nothing to do but resign
And accept the encroachment as shivering advance,
Breaking up the morning in another design.

Looking for something tangible to define,
The purpose of structure in solid romance,
Why this the sun creeping down the valley line,
Breaking up the morning in another design?
